Of course, the menu also offers all the dishes that travellers expect, and the Italian influence is clear: Knödel-Tris (a trio of dumplings), polenta with mushrooms or goulash, roasted ribs, wild game, Kaiserschmarren (shredded pancakes with raisins), pastries and strudels. The extensive wine list features many South Tyrolean labels, but the rest of Italy is also well represented.

The “Costamula de sot” farmhouse is surely one of the most beautiful and authentic of the historic rustic buildings in Val Gardena. Dating back to 1608, this Ladin building is a cross between a dwelling and a feeding house featuring a cattle shed, and is located in a dominant and scenic position at 1,580m, high above the town centre of Ortisei in “Oberwinkel”.
In 1985, the farmhouse was placed under historic protection. Arno Mahlknecht, who acquired the farmhouse in 1990 – when considerable signs of decay could be seen – was inspired to put the heart of the farmhouse to good use, and decided to transform it into a retreat with the feel of an old farmhouse, where delicious Val Gardena specialities would be served to guests.
In 2010, a complete development of the farmhouse began. In collaboration with the heritage board, as much of the building as possible was left in its original state; the idea behind this was to bring the past to life for guests. The old parlour and curing room are well worth admiring!
In the creation of new architectural elements inside, materials such as steel and glass were favoured so that the eye can instantly distinguish between “old” and “new”. The wine cellar is a true gem, excavated from the Raschötzer porphyry underground. The temperature and humidity of the cellar thus create the perfect conditions for allowing wine to mature.

According to dendrochronological investigations, the Paratoni historic farmhouse was built in 1232. It is one of the oldest farmhouses in the Alpine region and holds protected historical status. Despite expansions and maintenance works that have been carried out over the centuries, the original basic structure of the farmhouse has survived throughout the ages. You can experience a very special atmosphere in our two parlours, dating back to the 18th and 16th centuries respectively.
In the small, original “Selchkuchl” (the room used for curing meats) farmer Gemma will cook a fixed menu to match the season, for your enjoyment. During the summer, we enhance our dishes with wild herbs that grow in our meadows. Typical and delicious rustic dishes are prepared freshly and with plenty of love. We primarily use our own products as well as organic products that we purchase from small producers in South Tyrol. We place particular emphasis on the excellent quality of our food. To complement your meal, we have carefully selected a range of high-quality wines from organic and biodynamic wineries. We also make our own juices, which range from the more well-known elderberry juice and peppermint juice to sorrel juice and dandelion juice.
Every week, we produce fresh butter, curd, yoghurt and Graukäse (a Tyrolean grey cheese). To make our hearty farmhouse bread, grain is freshly milled and baked in our oven.

The family-managed Pramulin hut is located on the edge of the Puez-Odle natural reserve, approximately 200m above the Col Raiser cable car station. During the winter the hut lies directly on the ski slope, and during the summer you can enjoy the verdant green of the meadow and a beautiful view of the Sassolungo. Additionally, there is a private playground and a small petting zoo. Both typical and international dishes are served.
The Planker family is looking forward to your visit.
